Inside the Giant Appetites of South Korea's Mukbang Queens

Two popular mukbang YouTubers from South Korea, Tzuyang and Heebab, have revealed the surprising medical reasons behind their ability to eat much more than the average person. Their large food portions, often a source of amazement, have a scientific explanation.

After undergoing medical evaluations, both Tzuyang and Heebab discovered that their unique digestive capabilities are due to enlarged stomach volumes and exceptionally fast metabolisms, setting them apart from typical individuals.

In one broadcast, Heebab consumed 14 servings of rice in a single day and underwent an X-ray to examine her stomach. The attending physician found it difficult to locate the organ because it was so full, revealing a highly adaptable digestive system.

“The stomach was so packed that identifying its position was challenging. Her intestines had shifted downward to accommodate the expansion,” the doctor explained, as reported by Biz Chosun.

He further elaborated that Heebab's stomach is extremely flexible and can stretch significantly to fit large quantities of food without distress.

Heebab also mentioned that she typically goes to the bathroom around three to four times daily, highlighting her rapid digestive turnover and efficient excretory process.

The medical team concluded that her body has a notably fast metabolism and superior digestion, which explains her ability to process food so efficiently.

Similarly, Tzuyang underwent a colonoscopy and received comparable results. Doctors found her stomach volume to be 30–40% larger than that of an average woman with her body type, accounting for her impressive mukbang feats.
